Dr. Felix Fernandez, D.O.
We are a mobile society, and nothing hinders and annoys us more than to be stuck in place with nothing to do or waiting for someone so we can move on. I groan just thinking of a traffic jam. For those of us whose mobility has been compromised by illness or accident, that same sense of frustration can sometimes overwhelm us. Our GenChair hybrid rollator/transporter has been designed precisely out of our desire to provide a tool that would optimize mobility for the walking impaired. Our hybrid differs from the usual walker/rollator in that it also allows for the save transportation of the person by an attendant or family member. Much care has gone into designing ergonomic features for the purpose of function, safety, and comfort. We listened to our patients, and have incorporated comfortable foot-rests that can be engaged while in transport mode. We also provided a much more comfortable “director’s chair” type backrest than the usual foam covered metal bar found in current walker/rollator models. The backrest can also be easily switched via a simple push button mechanism to accommodate either single walker mode or attendant transport mode. A lock-in-place break system with an ergonomic grip design is used for additional safety. All of these features are height adjustable. Our hybrid is slightly wider at its base, with a lower center of gravity to ensure extra stability. A small storage bag below the cushioned seat allows the carry on of any accessories and/or personal items. One single step folding mechanism makes storing our less than 19lbs. hybrid a snap. We think you will be happy with our GenChair and would welcome posting your comments in our testimonials section.
